Luis Ocha-Sanchez was trapped inside after the fast-moving Brinkerhoff Street blaze broke out around 12:30 a.m., Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said.

A firefighter also was injured when he slipped on ice, responders said.

The cause of the fire was accidental, Calo said.

Flames shot through every window of the house and the roof as firefighters spent nearly two hours bringing the blaze under control.

Because someone was killed, the Bergen County Arson Investigations Unit responded. The county sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.

The county Medical Examiner retrieved Sanchez's body for identification, Calo said.

Also responding were several area fire companies -- including those from Bogota, Englewood, Hackensack, Little Ferry and Teaneck.
